And to Thamood We sent their brother Salih. He said: 'Worship Allah, my nation, for you have no god except He. A clear proof has come to you from your Lord. Here is the shecamel of Allah, a sign for you. Leave her to graze in the earth of Allah and do not touch her with evil, lest a painful punishment seizes you. 73 And remember how He made you viceroys after A'ad and gave you station in the earth. Ye choose castles in the plains and hew the mountains into dwellings. So remember (all) the bounties of Allah and do not evil, making mischief in the earth. 74 The leaders of the arrogant party among his people said to those who were reckoned powerless - those among them who believed: "know ye indeed that Salih is a messenger from his Lord?" They said: "We do indeed believe in the revelation which hath been sent through him." 75 The Arrogant party said: "For our part, we reject what ye believe in." 76 So they slew the she-camel and revolted against their Lord's commandment, and they said: O Salih! bring us what you threatened us with, if you are one of the apostles. 77 Whereupon an earthquake seized them, so that they lay prone in their dwellings. 78 And he turned away from them and said, "O my people, I had certainly conveyed to you the message of my Lord and advised you, but you do not like advisors." 79 Lot told his people, "Why do you commit such indecent acts that have never been committed by anyone before? 80 You lust after men rather than women! You transgress all bounds!" 81 The only answer of his nation was: 'Expel them from your village. They are people who keep themselves purified' 82 So We saved him and his family -- except for his wife. She was one of those who stayed behind. 83 And We rained upon them a rain; consider then what was the end of the guilty. 84
