People of Hijr rejected the Messengers. 80 And we gave them Our revelations, but they were averse to them. 81 They carved out dwellings in the mountains, and lived in security -- 82 the blast overtook them early one morning. 83 and whatever they had been earning proved of no avail. 84 AND [remember:] We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them without [an inner] truth; but, behold, the Hour [when this will become clear to all] is indeed yet to come. Hence, forgive [men's failings] with fair forbearance: 85 Your Lord is the Creator, the Knower. 86 We have indeed given you the seven oft-repeated (examples), and the majestic Qur'an. 87 Do not even cast your eyes towards the worldly goods We have granted to different kinds of people, nor grieve over the state they are in, but turn your loving attention to the believers instead, 88 And say: Surely I am the plain warner. 89 So We sent it down to the partitioners, 90 Who have made the Qur'an into portions. 91 Therefore, by the Lord, We will, of a surety, call them to account, 92 For all that they used to do. 93 So proclaim that which thou art commanded, and withdraw from the idolaters. 94 Surely We will suffice you against the scoffers 95 Those who adopt, with Allah, another god: but soon will they come to know. 96 We are well aware that you are disheartened by what they say. 97 Therefore celebrate the praise of your Lord, and be of those who make obeisance. 98 and worship your Lord until what is certain [death] comes to you. 99
