The unbelieving assembly of his nation, who belied the encounter of the Everlasting Life, and on whom We had bestowed ease in this life, said: 'This is but a human like yourselves; he eats of what you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 So if you follow a man like yourself you will certainly be doomed. 34 "Does he promise you that when you have died and have become dust and bones, you shall come out alive (resurrected)? 35 ۞ How far, how far, is that which you are promised. 36 There exists only our present life: we die and we live [but once], and shall never be raised up again. 37 He is nothing but a man who has forged against Allah a lie, we will never believe him' 38 The Messenger prayed, "Lord, help me; they have called me a liar". 39 (Allah) said: "In but a little while, they are sure to be sorry!" 40 So the shriek seized them in truth, and We made them as [plant] stubble. Then away with the wrongdoing people. 41 After them We brought another generation into existence. 42 no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 43 Then We sent our messengers one after another. Whenever its messenger came unto a nation they denied him; so We caused them to follow one another (to disaster) and We made them bywords. A far removal for folk who believe not! 44 AND THEN We sent forth Moses and his brother Aaron with Our messages and a manifest authority [from Us] 45 To Pharaoh and his establishment, but they were arrogant and were a haughty people. 46 and they said, 'What, shall we believe two mortals like ourselves, whose people are our servants?' 47 So they rejected them, calling them liars, and they too eventually became of those that were destroyed. 48 And We verily gave Moses the Scripture, that haply they might go aright. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, and gave them shelter on an elevated ground, sequestered, watered by a spring. 50
