Have you considered he who turns his back, 33 and gives a little, grudgingly? 34 Or, does he possess knowledge of the Unseen, and can therefore see? 35 Or, has he not been told of that which is in the Scrolls of Moses 36 and about Abraham who fulfilled his duty (to God)? 37 To wit, that a burthened soul shall not bear the burthen of another. 38 And that man shall have nothing but what he strives for- 39 and that (the result of) his striving shall soon be seen, 40 Then shall he be rewarded for it with the fullest reward- 41 And that to your Lord is the finality 42 and that it is He alone who causes [you] to laugh and to weep; 43 and that it is He who causes to die, and causes to live 44 And that He createth the two spouses, the male and the female, 45 from an ejaculated drop (of sperm), 46 And that upon Him is another bringing forth. 47 And that He it is Who enriches and gives to hold; 48 and that it is He alone who sustains the brightest star; 49 And that He destroyed the former 'A-ad. 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace [of them,] 51 and the people of Noah before -- certainly they did exceeding evil, and were insolent 52 And that it is He Who threw down the upturned townships? 53 Then covered them with that which covered them. 54 About which, then, of thy Sustainer's powers canst thou [still] remain in doubt? 55 This is a warner from the warners of ancient times. 56 The Hour that was to come draws ever nearer. 57 There shall be none besides Allah to remove it. 58 Will you, then, wonder at this? 59 And you laugh, and do not weep! 60 And you are lost in play! 61 Rather, prostrate to Allah and worship Him. ۩ 62
