The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Cloaked one, 1 Arise, and warn. 2 and exalt your Lord, 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 LEAVE Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 and sons that stand in witness. 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 Nay! He is forward unto Our signs; 16 Anon I shall afflict him with a fearful woe. 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then he looked round; 21 and then he frowns and glares, 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; 24 This is naught but the word of a mortal. 25 I will surely roast him in the Scorching. 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 It does not allow anyone to live, and neither does it leave anyone to die; 28 It scorches people's skin 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 We have not appointed the guards of hell, except angels; and did not keep this number except to test the disbelievers – in order that the People given the Book(s) may be convinced, and to increase the faith of the believers – and so that the People given the Book(s) and the Muslims may not have any doubt – and so that those in whose hearts is a disease and the disbelievers, may say, “What does Allah mean by this amazing example?” This is how Allah sends astray whomever He wills, and guides whomever He wills; and no one knows the armies of Allah except Him; and this is not but an advice to man. 31
