He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 To him you attend; 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 and fears (Allah), 9 you ignore him. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 We send down abundant water, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 wife and sons, 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
