The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
