And We delivered the Children of Israel from the shameful doom; 30 at the hands of Pharaoh: he was a tyrant who exceeded all bounds. 31 And We chose them, purposely, above (all) creatures. 32 And We gave them portents wherein was a clear trial. 33 Verily these! they say: 34 "After we die, we shall never be raised to life again. 35 Bring us our fathers, if what you say is true' 36 Are they better, or the people of Tubba? And those who were before them? We destroyed them; they were indeed criminals. 37 We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them for Our own amusement. 38 We did not create them save with a purpose, yet most people have no knowledge of this. 39 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is the appointed time for them all - 40 the Day when a friend shall be of no avail to his friend nor shall they be helped, 41 Except those [believers] on whom Allah has mercy. Indeed, He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 42
