The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount (of Revelation); 1 And by the Book Inscribed. 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 by the established House (Mecca), 4 Consider the vault [of heaven] raised high! 5 and the sea swarming, 6 The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. 7 There is none that can avert it; 8 The day the sky will tremble, 9 and the mountains quickly move. 10 Then woe that Day to the beliers; 11 all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain 12 That Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly. 13 “This is the Hell which you used to give the lie to.” 14 Is it magic then or do you not see? 15 Endure the heat thereof, and whether ye are patient of it or impatient of it is all one for you. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do. 16 Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, 17 Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. 18 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 The offspring of the believers will also follow them to Paradise. So shall We join their offspring to them because of their faith. We shall reduce nothing from their deeds. Everyone will be responsible for his own actions. 21 And We shall provide them with fruit and meat, such as they desire. 22 There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, 23 ۞ And their boy servants shall go around them, as if they were pearls, safely hidden. 24 And they will advance unto each other asking questions. 25 saying, "We were afraid while in the world. 26 But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire. 27 We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful". 28
