Nay! By the moon 32 And by the night when it withdraws, 33 and the morning when it appears, 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 It is a warning for mankind 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 Save those who will stand on the right hand. 39 Sitting in the gardens, asking 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 'What thrusted you into Sakar?' 42 They will answer: We were not of those who prayed 43 "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 "And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 The intercession of the intercessors will be of no benefit to them. 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 As if they were affrighted asses, 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
