The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By heaven and the night-star! 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 And by the earth which splitteth, 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
