Now, behold, this [divine writ] has indeed been bestowed from on high by the Sustainer of all the worlds: 192 Which the trustworthy Ruh [Jibrael (Gabriel)] has brought down; 193 into your heart, so that you may be a warner, 194 In plain Arabic speech. 195 And lo! it is in the Scriptures of the men of old. 196 And was this not a sign for them, that the scholars of the Descendants of Israel may recognise this Prophet? 197 (But such is their adamance) that had We revealed it to one of the non-Arabs and even if he had recited (this clear Arabic discourse) to them 198 And he had recited it unto them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Even so We have caused it to enter into the hearts of the sinners, 200 They will not believe it until they behold the painful punishment. 201 The torment will strike them suddenly without their knowledge. 202 Then they will say: are we to be respited? 203 Seek haste then they with our torment? 204 What thinkest thou? If We give them enjoyment of days for many years, 205 and then the promised punishment fell upon them, 206 of what avail would their past enjoyment be to them? 207 And never did We destroy a township which did not have Heralds of warning, 208 to admonish them. We have never been unjust. 209 And the satans have not brought it down. 210 for, neither does it suit their ends, nor is it in their power [to impart it to man]: 211 Truly, they are expelled from hearing. 212 (Muhammad), do not worship anything besides God lest you suffer the punishment. 213 And admonish thy nearest kinsmen, 214 and spread the wings of thy tenderness over all of the believers who may follow thee; 215 And if they disobey thee, say thou: verily I am quit of that which ye work. 216 And put thy trust on the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,- 217 who sees you when you stand up [for prayer], 218 or move during your prostration with the worshippers. 219 He is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They descend on every lying (one who tells lies), sinful person. 222 They listen, but most of them are liars. 223 As for the poets, the erring follow them, 224 Do you not see that they wander about in every valley 225 and they say what they do not do? 226 Save those that believe, and do righteous deeds, and remember God oft, and help themselves after being wronged; and those who do wrong shall surely know by what overturning they will be overturned. 227
True are the words of God the Almighty.
