The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and flowing water 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And carpets raised. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For those of the right hand. 38
