A multitude of those of old 39 And a crowd of the later. 40 And the fellows on the left hand; how miserable shall the fellows on the left hand be! 41 They will be in the midst of scorching wind and boiling water, 42 And the shade of black smoke, 43 Neither cool nor agreeable. 44 Surely they were before that made to live in ease and plenty. 45 And they have been persisting in the heinous offence. 46 They used to say: “What! Once we are dead and are reduced to dust and bones, shall we still be raised to a new life from the dead? 47 "And also our forefathers?" 48 Say thou: verily the ancients and those of later generations: 49 Are to be gathered together for the appointment of a known Day." 50 "Then will ye truly,- O ye that go wrong, and treat (Truth) as Falsehood!- 51 You will indeed eat from the Zaqqum tree. 52 Then will fill your bellies with it. 53 And upon it, you will drink the hot boiling water. 54 You shall drink it as the thirsty camels drink." 55 This shall be their entertainment on the Day of Requital. 56 WE who have created you, [O men:] why, then, do you not accept the truth? 57 Have you considered the seed? 58 Did you create it, or are We the Creator? 59 We have decreed among you Death; We shall not be outstripped; 60 that We may exchange the likes of you, and make you to grow again in a fashion you know not. 61 And ye certainly know already the first form of creation: why then do ye not celebrate His praises? 62 Have you considered the soil you till? 63 Is it you or We Who make them grow? 64 If We so pleased, We could turn your harvest into chaff. Then you would start lamenting, 65 Lo! we are laden with debt! 66 Indeed, we have been deprived of the fruits of our labour." 67 Have you thought about the water you drink? 68 Is it you who cause it to come down from the clouds - or are We the cause of its coming down? 69 If We willed, We verily could make it salt (and undrinkable), why then do you not give thanks (to Allah)? 70 Tell Me! The fire which you kindle, 71 Is it you who produced its tree, or are We the producer? 72 It is We who have made it a means to remind [you of Us,] and a comfort for all who are lost and hungry in the wilderness [of their lives]. 73 Then celebrate with praises the name of thy Lord, the Supreme! 74

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
