He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 to a rich man, 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 his wife and his children. 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
