Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 “And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised.” 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 Now we have no intercessors 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
