Thus did We deliver the Children of Israel from the humiliating chastisement, 30 at the hands of Pharaoh: he was a tyrant who exceeded all bounds. 31 and indeed, We chose them knowingly above all other people, 32 and gave them signs wherein there was a manifest trial. 33 Most surely these do say: 34 "There is nothing beyond our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 Bring us our fathers, if what you say is true' 36 What! Are they better than the people of Tubba and those who were before them? We destroyed them because they were guilty of sin. 37 It was not in play that We created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them. 38 We created them with definite purpose; but most of them do not understand. 39 The Day of Final Decision is the appointed time for all; 40 the Day when a friend shall be of no avail to his friend nor shall they be helped, 41 Except such as receive Allah's Mercy: for He is Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 42
