The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
