The Sun (Al-Shams)

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sun and its brightness 1 And the moon when she followeth him, 2 And the day when it shows it, 3 And by oath of the night when it hides it 4 The heavens and its architecture, 5 and by the earth and how He spread it, 6 By the Soul, and the proportion and order given to it; 7 And given the faculty of knowing what is disruptive and what is intrinsic to it. 8 Truly he succeeds that purifies it, 9 And he will indeed fail who corrupts it. 10 Thamood belied in their pride 11 when their arch-criminal rose up in rage. 12 And the messenger of Allah said: It is the she-camel of Allah, so let her drink! 13 Then they belied him and they hamstrung her; wherefore their Lord overwhelmed them for their crime, and made it equal. 14 God is not afraid of the result of what He had decreed. 15
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.

(1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
