In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ O MAN! 1 We have not sent down the Qur'an to thee to be (an occasion) for thy distress, 2 But as a reminder unto him who feareth, 3 A revelation from Him who created the earth and the high ascending skies, 4 the Merciful willed to the Throne. 5 His is whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever on the earth and whatsoever is in between and whatsoever is underneath the earth. 6 If you speak loudly; He has indeed knowledge of the secret and the hidden. 7 Allah! no God there is but he! His are the names excellent. 8 And did the news of Moosa reach you? 9 When he saw a fire and said to his wife, “Wait – I have seen a fire – perhaps I may bring you an ember from it or find a way upon the fire.” 10 But when he came close to it, a voice called out: "O Moses! 11 I am your Lord! Take off your sandals, for you are in the sacred valley of Tuwa. 12 “And I have chosen you, therefore listen carefully to what is divinely revealed to you.” 13 Verily I am God; there is no god but I; therefore serve Me, and perform the prayer of My remembrance. 14 "Verily, the Hour is coming and My Will is to keep it hidden that every person may be rewarded for that which he strives. 15 "Therefore, let not the one who believes not therein (i.e. in the Day of Resurrection, Reckoning, Paradise and Hell, etc.), but follows his own lusts, divert you therefrom, lest you perish. 16 And what is in your right hand, O Moses?" 17 He said: "This is my stick, whereon I lean, and wherewith I beat down branches for my sheep, and wherein I find other uses." 18 He said: Cast it down, O Musa! 19 So he cast it down, and lo! it was a serpent, gliding. 20 He said, “Pick it up and do not fear; We shall restore it to its former state.” 21 And face what is to come with patience, your hand will not be tarnished with blame: Another sign 22 That We may show you of Our greater signs: 23 Go thou unto Pharaoh! Lo! he hath transgressed (the bounds). 24
