The people of Lot rejected the Messengers. 160 when their brother Lot said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 161 I am for you an honest Messenger. 162 So fear God and listen to me. 163 And I do not ask you any reward for it; my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds; 164 Why do you go for males unlike all other creatures 165 And leave the wives your Lord created for you? Nay, but ye are froward folk. 166 They said, “O Lut, if you do not desist, you will be expelled.” 167 (Lot) said: "I am disgusted with your actions," 168 My Lord, save me and my family from [the consequence of] what they do." 169 So We delivered him and his people all together, 170 all but an old woman, who was among those that stayed behind; 171 then We totally destroyed the rest, 172 and We rained on them a rain; and evil is the rain of them that are warned. 173 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 174 And lo! thy Lord, He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
