The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ A. L. M. 1 The Romans have been defeated in a nearby land and after this defeat, 2 in the neighbouring land; but after their defeat they shall gain victory 3 In a few years (less than ten). God's is the imperative first and last. On that day the believers will rejoice 4 In the help of God. He helps whom He will; He is all-mighty, ever-merciful. 5 [This is] God's promise. Never does God fail to fulfill His promise - but most people know [it] not: 6 They know only the outward appearance of the life of the world, and they! of the Hereafter, they are neglecetful. 7 Have they not pondered upon themselves? Allah created not the heavens and the earth, and that which is between them, save with truth and for a destined end. But truly many of mankind are disbelievers in the meeting with their Lord. 8 Have they not travelled through the land to see how terrible was the end of the people who lived before them. The people who lived before them were stronger than them in might, in tilling, and in developing the earth. Our Messengers came to them with clear miracles. God did not do an injustice to them but they wronged themselves. 9 Then the end of those who did evil was the worst [consequence] because they denied the signs of Allah and used to ridicule them. 10
