۞ Gather all the wicked together and their comrades, and those they had worshipped 22 "Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire! 23 and halt them [there]!" [And then,] behold, they shall be asked, 24 “What is the matter with you, that you do not help one another?” 25 indeed, on that Day they will surrender themselves. 26 and approach each other with questions, 27 Some [of them] will say: "Behold, you were wont to approach us [deceptively] from the right!" 28 Others will respond, "It was you who did not want to have any faith. 29 we had no power over you; but you yourselves were a rebellious people. 30 The statement of Our Lord is realized against us, and we are tasting it, 31 We seduced you astray; verily we were ourselves the seduced ones. 32 Truly, that Day, they will (all) share in the Penalty. 33 Verily We! in this wise We deal with the culprits. 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 and said: “Shall we forsake our deities for the sake of a distracted poet?” 36 In fact, he had brought them the truth and had acknowledged the Messengers (who were sent before him). 37 (They will be told), "You will certainly suffer the painful torment 38 but you shall not be recompensed except for what you were doing. 39 Except the chosen creatures of God, 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 Fruits; and they will be honoured. 42 In Gardens of Delight. 43 On thrones facing one another. 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 White, delicious to those who drink. 46 There will neither be any harm in it for their body nor will it intoxicate their mind. 47 And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes, 48 so delicate as the hidden peel under an egg's shell. 49 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 50 One of them speaks thus: "Behold, I had [on earth] a close companion 51 who would say: "Are you among the believers (of the resurrection)? 52 (Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?' 53 He said (to others on the thrones), “Will you take a glimpse (into hell) below?” 54 He will look down and see him in hell. 55 He said: "By Allah! You have nearly ruined me. 56 And had it not been for the favor of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought up. 57 Then he will say [to his blessed companions], "Are we not going to die, 58 except for our first death, and are we not chastised? 59 Most surely this is the mighty achievement. 60 For the like of this, then, let them labour, those who labour [in God's way]! 61 Is such [a paradise] the better welcome - or the [hellish] tree of deadly fruit? 62 Verily We! We have made it a temptation for the wrong-doers. 63 Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire, 64 Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils. 65 So indeed they will eat from it, and fill their bellies with it. 66 Then on the top of that they will be given boiling water to drink so that it becomes a mixture (of boiling water and Zaqqum in their bellies). 67 then their return is to Hell. 68 They had found their fathers astray, 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples, 71 And verily We sent among them warners. 72 Then see what was the end of those who were admonished (but heeded not),- 73 Except the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 74
