Then said he who believed, 'My people, follow me, and I will guide you in the way of rectitude. 38 O my people, surely this present life is but a passing enjoyment; surely the world to come is the abode of stability. 39 Whoever does an evil deed will not be recompensed except by the like thereof; but whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer - those will enter Paradise, being given provision therein without account. 40 ۞ O my people, how is it with me, that I call you to salvation, and you call me to the Fire? 41 You invite me to disbelieve in Allah and associate with Him that of which I have no knowledge, and I invite you to the Exalted in Might, the Perpetual Forgiver. 42 "Without doubt ye do call me to one who is not fit to be called to, whether in this world, or in the Hereafter; our return will be to Allah; and the Transgressors will be Companions of the Fire! 43 And ye will remember what I say unto you. I confide my cause unto Allah. Lo! Allah is Seer of (His) slaves. 44 So God guarded him against the evil things of their devising, and there encompassed the folk of Pharaoh the evil chastisement, 45 The fire – upon which they are presented morning and evening; and when the Last Day is established – “Put the people of Firaun into the most severe punishment.” (Punishment in the grave is proven by this verse.) 46 During a dispute in the fire, the suppressed ones will say to those who had dominated them, "We were your followers. Can you now relieve us of our suffering in the fire?" 47 Those who had waxed proud will reply: “All of us are in it. Allah has already passed His judgement among His servants.” 48 And those in the Fire will say to the keepers of Hell, "Supplicate your Lord to lighten for us a day from the punishment." 49 They will say, "Did there not come to you your messengers with clear proofs?" They will say, "Yes." They will reply, "Then supplicate [yourselves], but the supplication of the disbelievers is not except in error." 50
