The Human (Al-Insan)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WAS THERE NOT a time in the life of man when he was not even a mentionable thing? 1 Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing. 2 We showed him the right path whether he would be grateful or ungrateful. 3 Verily We! We have gotten ready for the infidels chains and collars and a Blaze. 4 Surely the pious shall drink of a cup whose mixture is camphor, 5 This will be a gushing spring wherefrom Allah's servants shall drink wine, a spring from which they will take out channels wherever they wish. 6 [The truly virtuous are] they [who] fulfil their vows, and stand in awe of a Day the woe of which is bound to spread far and wide, 7 who give food, for the love of Him to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, 8 (Saying),"We feed you for the sake of Allah alone: no reward do we desire from you, nor thanks. 9 behold, we stand in awe of our Sustainer's judgment on a distressful, fateful Day!" 10 So God has guarded them from the evil of that day, and has procured them radiancy and gladness, 11 And hath awarded them for all that they endured, a Garden and silk attire; 12 Reclining therein upon couches, they will find there neither (heat of) a sun nor bitter cold. 13 The shades of Paradise will bend over them, and its fruits will be brought within their easy reach; 14 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and goblets of crystal,- 15 Crystal-clear, made of silver. They will determine the measure thereof according to their wishes. 16 And in that [paradise] they will be given to drink of a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 from a spring named salsabil. 18 ۞ And round about them will (serve) boys of everlasting youth. If you see them, you would think them scattered pearls. 19 And when you see there, you shall see blessings and a great kingdom. 20 Upon them there will be garments of green silk, rich brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure beverage to drink. 21 It will be said to them, “This is your reward – indeed your efforts have been appreciated.” 22
