He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And he fears, 9 You neglect. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 On honourable pages. 13 exalted and purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 And We made corn grow, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 wife and sons, 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
