Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
