And (remember) when your Lord said to Moosa, “Go to the unjust people.” 10 the people of Pharaoh; will they not be godfearing?' 11 He said, "My Lord, indeed I fear that they will deny me 12 “I feel hesitant, and my tongue does not speak fast, therefore make Haroon also a Noble Messenger.” 13 And they have upon me a [claim due to] sin, so I fear that they will kill me." 14 He said: "Certainly not! So go both of you with Our Signs. We shall be with you listening to everything. 15 They came to the Pharaoh and said, "We are the Messengers of the Lord of the Universe. 16 "'Send thou with us the Children of Israel.'" 17 He said, 'Did we not raise thee amongst us as a child? Didst thou not tarry among us years of thy life? 18 And [then] you did your deed which you did, and you were of the ungrateful." 19 Moses replied: "I committed that act erringly. 20 “I therefore went away from you as I feared you – so my Lord commanded me and appointed me as one of the Noble Messengers.” 21 "And this is the favour with which thou dost reproach me,- that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel!" 22 The Pharaoh asked, "Who is the Lord of the Universe?" 23 (Moses) said: "The Lord and Cherisher of the heavens and the earth, and all between,- if ye want to be quite sure." 24 (Pharaoh) said unto those around him: Hear ye not? 25 He said: Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers of old. 26 (Pharaoh) said: 'Surely, the Messenger who has been sent to you is mad!' 27 Musa (Moses) said: "Lord of the east and the west, and all that is between them, if you did but understand!" 28 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "If you choose an ilah (god) other than me, I will certainly put you among the prisoners." 29 (Moses) said: "Even though I have brought to you something convincing?" 30 The Pharaoh replied, "Bring it, if you are telling the truth." 31 So Moses threw down his staff and suddenly it appeared as a serpent, plainly visible. 32 And he drew forth his hand, and lo, it looked white to the beholders. 33
