The tribe of Ad rejected the Messengers. 123 When their brother Hood said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 124 I am for you a faithful Messenger, 125 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 126 And I do not ask you any reward for it; surely my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds 127 Build ye on every eminence a landmark in vanity? 128 And take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally? 129 And if ye seize by force, seize ye as tyrants? 130 So fear you God, and obey you me; 131 fear Him who has aided you with all that you know -- 132 He has bestowed on you cattle, and sons, 133 And gardens and springs. 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day." 135 They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors. 136 this is nothing but the habit of the ancients, 137 and we shall never be punished' 138 And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 139 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 140
