And, verily, Yunus (Jonah) was one of the Messengers. 139 When he left towards the laden ship. 140 And then they cast lots, and he was the one who lost; 141 And a fish swallowed him, and he was reproaching himself. 142 Had he not been one of those who struggled hard, 143 he would certainly have remained in its belly till the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ but We cast him upon the wilderness, and he was sick, 145 And We made a gourd tree grow over him. 146 We sent him to a hundred thousand or more people. 147 So they accepted faith – We therefore gave them usage for a while. 148 (Muhammad), ask them, "Do daughters belong to your Lord and sons to them? 149 Did We create the angels as females the while they witnessed?” 150 Lo! it is of their falsehood that they say: 151 'God has begotten a son.' They are certainly liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters in preference to sons? 153 What is the matter with you? How do you judge? 154 Will you not then reflect? 155 Do you have clear authority? 156 Bring your Book, if you are truthful. 157 And they have made between Him and the jinn a kinship whereas the jinn assuredly know that they are to be brought up 158 Glorified is Allah! (He is Free) from what they attribute unto Him! 159 But not so the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 160 Lo! verily, ye and that which ye worship, 161 Can mislead anyone away from Him, 162 except those who are doomed to enter hell. 163 The angels say, "Each of us has an appointed place. 164 Lo! we, even we are they who set the ranks, 165 And we are most surely they who declare the glory (of Allah). 166 And indeed the disbelievers used to say, – 167 “If only we had the Reminder which had been granted to the people of yore 168 we would have been sincere worshipers of Allah' 169 But when it came to them, they rejected it. They shall soon come to know (the end of such an attitude). 170 And assuredly Our word hath already gone forth Our bondmen, the sent ones: 171 That verily they! they shall be made triumphant. 172 And verily Our host! they are to be overcome. 173 So turn (away) from them for a while. 174 And watch, for they will (soon) see. 175 What! would they then hasten on Our chastisement? 176 When it comes down on their plains, it will be an evil dawn for those who had been warned. 177 And turn thou aside from them for a season. 178 and see [them for what they are]; and in time they [too] will come to see [what they do not see now]. 179 LIMITLESS in His glory is thy Sustainer, the Lord of almightiness, [exalted] above anything that men may devise by way of definition! 180 And peace upon the messengers. 181 And all the praise and thanks be to Allah, Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 182
