Elucidated (Fussilat)

54 verses, revealed in Mecca after Forgiver (Ghaafer) before Consultation (Al-Shooraa)

In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace

Ha Mim! 1 A revelation from Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful. 2 The verses of this Book have been fully expounded. It is a reading in the Arabic language for the people of knowledge. 3 It bears glad tidings and a warning, yet most of them turn away and do not listen. 4 They say: "Our hearts are under veils, (concealed) from that to which thou dost invite us, and in our ears is a deafness, and between us and thee is a screen: so do thou (what thou wilt); for us, we shall do (what we will!)" 5 Say (unto them O Muhammad): I am only a mortal like you. It is inspired in me that your Allah is One Allah, therefor take the straight path unto Him and seek forgiveness of Him. And woe unto the idolaters, 6 Those who do not give zakah, and in the Hereafter they are disbelievers. 7 [But,] verily, they who have attained to faith and do good works shall have a reward unending! 8
