If affliction befalls you, it is what your own hands have earned, but He pardons a lot. 30 You are not able to frustrate Him in the earth, nor do you have a guardian and a helper other than Allah. 31 And of His signs are the ships in the sea like landmarks. 32 If He willed, He could still the wind, and they would remain motionless on its surface. Indeed in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful. 33 Or He causeth them to perish on account of that which they have earned - And He forgiveth much - 34 And (that) those who dispute about Our communications may know; there is no place of refuge for them. 35 So whatever thing you have been given - it is but [for] enjoyment of the worldly life. But what is with Allah is better and more lasting for those who have believed and upon their Lord rely 36 who eschew grave sins and shameful deeds, and whenever they are angry, forgive; 37 and who respond to [the call of] their Sustainer and are constant in prayer; and whose rule [in all matters of common concern] is consultation among themselves; and who spend on others out of what We provide for them as sustenance; 38 And those who, when great wrong afflicts them, defend themselves. 39 The retribution of evil is the equal of evil (done); yet those who forgive and rehabilitate will be rewarded by God. Verily He does not like those who do wrong. 40 There is no blame against him who avenges himself after he has been wronged. 41 The way is only open against those who do wrong to the people, and are insolent in the earth wrongfully; there awaits them a painful chastisement. 42 whoever is patient and forgiving, acts with great courage and resolution. 43
