The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O thou enveloped in thy cloak, 1 arise and warn, 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 thy robes purify 4 And banish all trepidation. 5 And do not through giving seek thyself to gain, 6 and persevere for your Lord's sake. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave Me alone, (to deal) with the (creature) whom I created (bare and) alone!- 11 and whom I have granted abundant wealth 12 and sons that stand in witness. 13 And made life smooth and comfortable for him! 14 Yet he desires that I should give more. 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 So let him be cursed! How he plotted! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 He looked (at others); 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 I will soon fling him into hell. 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 Burning the skins! 29 Over it are nineteen [angels]. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
