Nay! By the moon 32 And [by] the night when it departs 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 It is a warning for mankind 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Except the Companions of the Right Hand. 39 Sitting in the gardens, asking 40 About the criminals, 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the needy. 44 and we plunged along with the plungers, 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 So no intercession of intercessors will be of any use to them. 48 Why then do they turn away from the admonition 49 As if they were frightened (wild) donkeys. 50 running away from a lion? 51 Indeed, each one of them desires to be given unrolled scrolls. 52 No indeed; but they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this is an admonition 54 Let him who will take heed: 55 And they shall not heed unless Allah willeth. He is the Lord of piety, and the Lord of forgiveness. 56
