The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great tidings! 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
