So exhort (them, O Prophet), for by your Lord's Grace, you are neither a soothsayer nor a madman. 29 Or do they say: A poet, we wait for him the evil accidents of time. 30 Say thou: "Wait, [then,] hopefully; behold, I, too, shall hopefully wait with you!" 31 Does their reasoning prompt them to this, or they are a people rebellious? 32 Or do they say: He has forged it. Nay! they do not believe. 33 Let them produce a discourse like it if they are true in their claim. 34 Were they created out of nothing, or are they their own creators? 35 [And] have they created the heavens and the earth? Nay, but they have no certainty of anything! 36 Or do they have your Lord's treasures in their keeping? Or have absolute authority over them? 37 Or have they a ladder whereon they listen? Then let any of them that has listened bring a clear authority. 38 Do the daughters belong to Him and the sons to you? 39 Or do you (O dear Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him) ask any fee from them, so they are burdened with the penalty? 40 Or is the hidden with them, by which they pass judgements? 41 Or are they contriving a stratagem against you? If so, that stratagem will rebound against the unbelievers. 42 Or have they a god, other than God? Glory be to God, above that which they associate! 43 Were they to see a piece of the sky falling (on them), they would (only) say: "Clouds gathered in heaps!" 44 Then let them be (O Muhammad), till they meet their day, in which they will be thunder-stricken, 45 A Day whereon their plotting will avail them not at all, nor will they be succoured. 46 But, verily, for those who are bent on doing evil, there is suffering in store [even] closer at hand than that [supreme suffering in the hereafter]: but most of them are not aware of it. 47 And be thou patient under the judgment of thy Lord; surely thou art before Our eyes. And proclaim the praise of thy Lord when thou arisest, 48 Extol His glory at night, and at the setting of the stars. 49
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
