Al-Waaqe'ah 2 of 3
A large group from the earlier generations. 39 and also a large throng from those of later times. 40 As for the Companions of the Left 41 They will live amid the scorching, 42 scalding water and under a shadow of black smoke, 43 neither cold nor graceful in shape. 44 They had been affluent before, 45 and persisted in heinous sins. 46 And they used to say, "What! when we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised up again?- 47 (We) and our fore-fathers of yore?” 48 Proclaim, "Without doubt all - the former and the latter." 49 "They will all be gathered together - on the appointed time of the known day." 50 Then indeed you, O those astray [who are] deniers, 51 Ye verily will eat of a tree called Zaqqum 52 and you shall fill therewith your bellies 53 "And drink Boiling Water on top of it: 54 "Indeed ye shall drink like diseased camels raging with thirst!" 55 Thus shall they be entertained on the Day of Recompense. 56 WE who have created you, [O men:] why, then, do you not accept the truth? 57 Have you thought about [the semen] that you discharge -- 58 Do you make a human out of it, or is it We Who create? 59 We have incorporated death in your constitution, and We shall not be hindered 60 In that We will change your likenesses and produce you in that [form] which you do not know. 61 And assuredly ye have fully known the first production wherefore heed ye not? 62 See ye the seed that ye sow in the ground? 63 Is it you that make it grow, or are We the Grower? 64 Did We will, We would make it broken orts, and you would remain bitterly jesting -- 65 “We have been penalised; 66 nay, we are deprived [altogether]." 67 See ye the water which ye drink? 68 Is it you who caused it to descend from the cloud, or is it We Who cause it to descend? 69 Had We wanted, We could have made it salty. Why then do you not give thanks? 70 So what is your opinion regarding the fire which you kindle? 71 Produce ye the tree thereof, or are We the Producer? 72 It is We who have made it as a reminder and a means of comfort for the people. 73 Therefore proclaim the Purity of the name of your Lord, the Greatest. 74
