The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the angels who violently tear-out the souls of the disbelievers from their bodies, 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 And by those who float in space, 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?” 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. 25 Verily, in this is an instructive admonition for whosoever fears Allah. 26
