He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 To him you give attention. 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 you pay him no heed. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 lofty and pure, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruit and grass - 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
Almighty Allah's Truth.
