The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon was rent in twain. 1 And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous 2 And they denied and followed their own desires, whereas each matter has been decided! 3 And assuredly there hath come unto them tidings wherein is a deterrent. 4 Consummate wisdom-- but warnings do not avail; 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 With looks downcast they will come forth, from the tombs, as though they were locusts scattered abroad. 7 hastening towards the Crier. Those who deny the truth will cry, "This is such a hard day!" 8 ۞ Before them Noah's people also gave the lie (to his Message). They rejected Our servant as a liar, saying: “He is a madman”; and he was rebuffed. 9 Thereupon he prayed unto his Lord: verily am overcome, so vindicate me. 10 We opened the Gates of Heaven with torrential water 11 and We made the earth burst forth with springs, and all this water converged to fulfil that which had been decreed. 12 But We bore him on an (Ark) made of broad planks and caulked with palm-fibre: 13 Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. 14 And indeed, We have caused such [floating vessels] to remain forever a sign [of Our grace unto man]: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 15 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 16 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 17 Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! 18 Verily We! We sent against them a raging wind on a day of calamity continuous. 19 Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up. 20 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 21 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 22
