The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 like hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 And water poured out 31 and fruit abounding, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 and upraised couches. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 for those on the Right, 38
