Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Say: It has been revealed to me that a company of Jinns listened (to the Qur'an). They said, 'We have really heard a wonderful Recital! 1 'It guides to the Right Path, and we have believed therein, and we shall never join (in worship) anything with our Lord (Allah). 2 our Lord is too exalted to have either a wife or son. 3 and that “the foolish among us have been wont to say outrageous things about Allah”; 4 And we had thought that mankind and the jinn would never speak about Allah a lie. 5 and that “some from among the humans used to seek protection of some among the jinn, and thus they increased the arrogance of the jinn”; 6 so much so that they came to think, as you [once] thought, that God would never [again] send forth anyone [as His apostle]. 7 (The jinn continued saying): "We made our way towards heaven, but we found it filled with stern guards and a flame. 8 And that we used to sit in some of the sitting-places thereof to steal a hearing, but he who would (try to) listen now would find a flame lying in wait for him: 9 And that we know not whether evil is meant for those who are on earth or whether their Lord means to bring them good: 10 And among us there are righteous folk and among us there are far from that. We are sects having different rules. 11 We have realized that we could never thwart God on earth and that we would never be able to thwart Him by flight. 12 'And indeed when we heard the Guidance (this Quran), we believed therein (Islamic Monotheism), and whosoever believes in his Lord shall have no fear, either of a decrease in the reward of his good deeds or an increase in punishment for his sins. 13 Some of us have come to submission, and some of us are iniquitous.'" Those who have submitted have taken the right course; 14 but those who are wrongdoers will become the fuel of Hell." 15 [KNOW,] THEN, that if they [who have heard Our call] keep firmly to the [right] path, We shall certainly shower them with blessings abundant, 16 That We might try them there by. And whosoever turneth aside from the remembrance of his Lord, him He shall thrust into a torment vehement. 17 And the prostrations are for Allah; wherefore call not along with Allah anyone. 18 and when Allah's servant stood up to call on Him, they well-nigh swarmed him. 19
