The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
