The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 The closing night, 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 where then are you going? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
