۞ Gather together the evildoers, their wives, and that they were worshipping, 22 besides God, and lead them to the path of the Fire; 23 And stop them, for they must be questioned. 24 "Why help you not one another?" 25 They will submit to questioning then, 26 and approach each other with questions, 27 saying: 'You used to come to us from the right hand' 28 The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, 29 We had no power over you. In fact, you were a people rebellious. 30 The sentence of our Lord has come true for us. We have certainly to taste (the punishment), 31 And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators." 32 On that Day they will all share the punishment: 33 Verily We! in this wise We deal with the culprits. 34 Whenever it was said to them: “There is no true deity apart from Allah,” they waxed proud 35 and replied, "Shall we then give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers. 37 Most surely you will taste the painful punishment. 38 And be rewarded but only for what you had done, 39 But Allah's chosen servants (shall be spared this woeful end). 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 Fruits. And they will be honoured 42 In Gardens of Delight. 43 On thrones facing one another. 44 A drink will be passed round among them from a flowing spring: 45 Crystal-white, of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof), 46 There shall be no trouble in it, nor shall they be exhausted therewith. 47 They will have with them loving wives with big black and white eyes 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 50 One of them speaks thus: "Behold, I had [on earth] a close companion 51 Who would say, 'Are you indeed of those who believe 52 Can we, when we are dead and have become mere dust and bones - can we (then) verily be brought to book? 53 Allah will say: will ye look down? 54 Then he will look downwards, and will see him in the depths of Hell. 55 And he will say: by Allah, thou hadst wellnigh causedest me to perish. 56 But for Allah's favour, I should be one of those who have been mustered here. 57 So, are we not going to die, 58 [again,] beyond our previous death, and that we shall never [again] be made to suffer? 59 This is indeed the mighty triumph, 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is that better by way of hospitality or the Zaqqum tree, 62 Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers. 63 It is a tree that comes forth in the root of Hell; 64 and its fruits are like devils' heads. 65 on it they shall feed, and with it they shall fill their bellies. 66 Then on the top of that they will be given boiling water to drink so that it becomes a mixture (of boiling water and Zaqqum in their bellies). 67 And once again: Verily, the blazing fire is their ultimate goal 68 They found their fathers erring, 69 and [now] they make haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And indeed most of the men of old went astray before them; 71 And verily We sent among them warners. 72 Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not). 73 except for the chosen servants of Allah? 74
