The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 and raised couches 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
