Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Indubitable! 1 What is the Inevitable Reality? 2 And what do you know what that indubitable event is? 3 The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the outburst. 5 And the 'Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind 6 Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. 7 So do you see any survivor among them? 8 Pharaoh and those before him and the people of the overturned habitations all engaged in the same great sin. 9 They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. 10 Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship 11 making it a Reminder for you, for all attentive ears to retain. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. 14 On that day, the inevitable event will take place 15 and the heavens will be rent asunder, 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 That will be the Day when you shall be brought forth (before Allah) and no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 Now as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, he will exclaim: "Come you all!" Read this my record! 19 Surely I knew that I shall meet my account. 20 They will have a pleasant life 21 In a lofty Garden – 22 with its fruits within easy reach. 23 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. 24 And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! 25 “And had never come to know my account!” 26 How I wish my death had ended all. 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 There hath perished from me my authority. 29 (The stern command will say): "Seize ye him, and bind ye him, 30 Then throw him in the blazing Fire. 31 then in a chain of seventy cubits' length insert him! 32 Indeed, he did not use to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 Nor he urged on others the feeding of the poor. 34 Wherefore for him here this Day there is no friend. 35 Nor food other than suppuration (filth) 36 Which none but sinners eat. 37
