Then, when the Messengers (the angels) came unto the family of Lout (Lot). 61 He said: "Verily! You are people unknown to me." 62 They said, “In fact we have brought to you the matter which these people doubted.” 63 and we are bringing thee the certainty [of its fulfilment]: for, behold, we are speaking the truth indeed. 64 So set out with your family in a watch of the night, and keep yourself behind them, and no one of you may turn around, and keep going ahead as you have been commanded." 65 And We made plain the case to him, that the root of them (who did wrong) was to be cut at early morn. 66 In the meantime the people of the city came to Lot rejoicing. 67 Exclaimed [Lot]: "Behold, these are my guests: so put me not to shame, 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They said, “Had we not forbidden you from meddling in the affairs of anyone?” 70 He said, "Here are my daughters, if you must act in this way." 71 By your life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement. 72 But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning, 73 And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay. 74 There are certainly signs in that for those who can learn a lesson -- 75 Indeed, it is on a way which still exists. 76 Indeed in that is a sign for the believers. 77 And the Companions of the Wood were also wrong-doers; 78 and We took vengeance on them. The two of them were upon a roadway manifest. 79
