The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
