The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 or orders piety? 12 What is your opinion if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.
